Asian Flavored Grilled Asparagus

Makes 4 Servings

Ingredients

  • 16 (thick) asparagus spears, tough ends snapped off
  • 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 small garlic cloves, minced
  • Dash of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted
  • 8 (3-inch) wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes before using

Directions

  1. Prepare grill for high heat cooking.
  2. Place asparagus spears on a flat surface and line up, grouping into fours. Skewer each group of asparagus, horizontally, with 2 wooden skewers, positioning each of the skewers 1 inch from each end of the asparagus. Repeat procedure with remaining three groups of asparagus spears.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together sesame oil, soy sauce, and garlic. Brush mixture evenly over asparagus.
  4. Grill asparagus on each side for 3 minutes, or until asparagus are crisp but tender.
  5. Sprinkle asparagus with salt, pepper, and toasted sesame seeds.
