Ingredients
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) buttered softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp orange extract
- 2 1/2 cups All purpose flour
- Frosting
- 2 tbsp butter melted
- 1 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp orange peel
- 1 tsp orange extract
- 1 to 2 tbsp milk
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter & sugar in a large bowl with an electric beater on high speed until creamy. Add egg & orange extract, mixing well Gradually add flour, mixing well. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Dip a flat bottomed glass into sugar & flatten balls. Bake 10 to 15 minutes until edges of cookies are lightly browned. Cool slightly on baking sheet: remove to wire racks & cool completely. To prepare frosting, combine butter, sugar, orange peel & extract until smooth. Stir in milk, as needed, until frosting is spreading consistency. Spread on each cookie.
