- 4 cup butter
- 2 onions sliced
- 1 garlic minced
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 qt beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
- Bread toasted
- Cheese, shredded (mozzarella, gouda mix)
Directions
In a med saucepan, place butter, onion, garlic, thyme, bay leaf and salt & pepper. Cook over med heat until very tender and start to brown (approx. 25 minutes), stirring occasionally. Add flour and mix well; cook for 1 minute, Add broth, Worcestershire sauce and vinegar, Cook until begins to bubble and thicken slightly; adjust seasoning if needed, Toast bread (any you have on hand will do), Preheat broiler; lay crouton (toasted bread) on a sheet pan and top with desired amount of cheese mixtures. Broil till starts to brown and all cheese is melted, Ladle soup into your bowls and top with cheesy croutons,
