Since 2003, AAFV has grown into 22 different programs and classes, expanded service into rural areas, and seen the evolution of our focus from direct services, to prevention education. AAFV is so proud of how far we have come, though there is a long way to go and the job is not yet finished. AAFV moves confidently forward creating a safer, healthier, violence-free world. The mission at AAFV has always been to eliminate violence in the lives of individuals. Everything AAFV does is in pursuit of fulfilling this mission. This is done through three distinct areas of need: IMMEDIATE AID MENTAL HEALTH, COURT ADVOCACY, AND HOUSING RESOURCES PREVENTION EDUCATION Hope’s Door is the only domestic violence specific women’s and children’s shelter in Canyon County. We provide protection not only for victims of Canyon County, but to the entire state of Idaho, and to victims across the country. Hope’s Door has 28 private bedrooms where women and their children have the security and safety needed to begin moving forward with a violence-free future.
